Abstract: To study the influence of sports intervention on the Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure and heart rate of college
students, from March to June 2024, a total of 772 first-year students from Xiaguan Campus (14 classes) and Gucheng Campus (13
classes) of Dali University were selected as the subjects, and physical education courses and extracurricular physical exercise were
taken as sports intervention measures. Paired t-tests were used to analyze the changes of BMI, blood pressure and heart rate before and
after the implementation of sports intervention, and t-tests and one-way ANOVA were used to compare the differences in the changes
of each index among various groups. Chi-square tests were used to compare the count data of blood pressure changes between groups.
Research results show that the 3-month sports intervention can improve the weight and BMI of college students, reduce blood pressure
and heart rate, and the range of change is affected by gender, baseline BMI and blood pressure.

Key words: sports intervention, Body Mass Index, blood pressure, heart rate
